Hedgehog Awareness Week coordinated by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society (BHPS) is back for 2025 running 5-11 May. This year the theme is ‘Give hedgehogs the edge!’ by making the edges of gardens and green spaces havens for wildlife.
As a Platinum-accredited Hedgehog Friendly Campus, we’re excited to celebrate our efforts and invite staff and students to take part during Hedgehog Awareness Week. Check out our schedule below, we look forward to seeing many of you there!
Running all Week
Competition
We’re inviting colleagues and students to get creative and share your hedgehog-related arts and crafts or action to ‘give hedgehogs the edge’! Share your photos with us on social media using the hashtag #UoSHedgehogWeek or email to sustainability@salford.ac.uk and you could win a hedgehog house.
For this competition, we want you to get creative and show us how we can raise awareness of hedgehogs through arts and crafts or make your outdoor spaces more hedgehog-friendly – whether it’s through log piles, wildlife ponds, fence gaps, or any other ideas. Share your photos with us by 19:00 Sunday 11 May, winner to be announced Monday 12 May.
