So now the stress of completing your UCAS application is over…what happens next? Firstly, well done for completing your application – hopefully you’ve put Salford as one of your choices! Here’s a step by step guide of what you might expect to happen over the next few months.
1. Receive your offer
The applications team will be reviewing everyone’s applications as soon as they can, and you can expect to have heard back from them by May 2025. If accepted, you will be sent either a conditional or unconditional offer.
An unconditional offer means the place is yours if you choose Salford as your first choice – you’ll be joining us here on campus in September!
A conditional offer means the place is yours provided you meet the specific conditions of your offer.
2. Reply to your offer
Once you’ve received your offers from your chosen universities you need to reply through the UCAS Applicant Hub to accept or decline.
You are able to choose one offer as your firm choice – the university you would most like to study at. If you meet the conditions of the offer you have a place to study there.
And one as your insurance choice – the university you’d be happy to study at if you don’t meet the conditions of your firm choice.
3. Offer Holder Days
If you have received an offer from us, you are able to come visit us for an Offer Holder Day. These take place in the Spring, so keep an eye out for further information, and allow you to get a glimpse into life as a Salford student. You’ll get to meet our lecturers, who will be providing taster sessions into what you will be learning on your course, as well as meeting future coursemates. It’s an ideal way to check if our university is right for you and will hopefully help you feel a little less stressed when September comes around.
In the meantime you can take a virtual tour of our campus here.
4. Arrange your accommodation and finances
The next step is to arrange where you will be living. We have multiple options available, including Peel Park Quarter directly on campus or John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts just a short walk away. Make sure to research into the right living situation for you.
You can find out more about accommodation in and around Salford in this webpage.
Student finance is also an important step to consider. If you plan to use a government loan to pay your tuition fees, or access a maintenance loan, you need to register on the government website. This process can seem slightly overwhelming but there’s plenty of tutorials online. Just make sure to take your time with it and double-check all of the information you are entering into the form.
5. A Level Results Day
After you’ve completed all of the previous steps, it’s time to wait! A Level results are set to be released on 14th August 2025 and depending on the offer you have received, and the results you achieve, this is when you will find out if your place at university has been accepted.
Results Day can be a stressful time so be sure to plan ahead and remember to be proud of yourself whatever the outcome may be. Here’s an Instagram Reel I made with a few tips to prepare for the big day.
6. Welcome to Salford
If you’ve been accepted into The University of Salford, CONGRATULATIONS! You can now start preparing to join us, whether that’s going shopping for some room décor, or maybe you’re getting ahead with some reading? More details will be published closer to the time regarding term date but expect to join us for our Welcome Week at the start of September.
Whichever stage of the application process you are currently in hopefully this guide can assist you in making your next decisions. It’s totally understandable if you are finding the whole process quite daunting as it was the same for me too but be sure to reach out for help to your school/college’s careers team or even a friend who has already been through this process before you. There’s also a lot of further guidance available on any of these steps online, so you are definitely not alone!
