We are thrilled to announce Salford Business School has been awarded a prestigious UKAT (UK Advising and Tutoring) Award for ‘Institutional Outstanding Student Support.’
Recognising institutions who are demonstrating outstanding support for students, the awards shine a light on those who are paving the way in pioneering personal tutoring and academic advising across the sector.
The school’s unwavering commitment to student success through a data-driven multi-pronged approach to academic advising, delivered through three dedicated support teams: the Academic Personal Tutoring Team, the Postgraduate Academic Tutor Team, and the Student Progression Administration Team, were instrumental to the win. Led by Charlie Seager, Sami Safadi and Chris Jones, together, these teams provide a comprehensive, student-centric support system that fosters academic achievement, belonging and student wellbeing.
The school’s student support is underpinned by collaborative teaching and learning approaches, as well as data-led decision making to ensure students are supported to succeed and to reach their full potential.
Charlie Seager, School Lead for Student Experience and Engagement at Salford Business School, commented: “Elevating student experience and ensuring our students have a solid support system in place that cultivates academic achievement are rooted in everything we do at the school, so to receive this recognition is amazing.
“We have countless student success stories to showcase the impact of this strategy, with many going on to incredible careers, securing scholarships and continuing their education, some of whom had initially felt this was out of reach for them.”
At the heart of Salford Business School’s student support framework sits targeted, personalised support tailored to every individual student’s needs. Through the work of the three dedicated teams, the school has cultivated a culture of care and achievement.

The integrated support framework has contributed to: increased progression and submission rates; improved student satisfaction and confidence; enhanced wellbeing and a stronger sense of belonging among students.
By addressing academic and personal needs through our innovative support model, we continue to empower our students to thrive both during their studies and in their future endeavours.
Charlie concluded: “Impressing the judges really was a team effort and so many colleagues contribute daily to ensuring outstanding student experience is at the cornerstone of our school, which we’re incredibly grateful for. It’s these contributions that have not only resulted in the award, but in year-on-year improvements to our student success and ultimately graduate outcomes.”
