After arranging dinner with an old school friend, he met her roommate, Andrea, at Castle Irwell bar, and everything changed. Their shared love of rugby league brought them together at the University of Salford, and 35 years later, it continues through their sponsorship of the Hull KR captain.
Tell us about how you met
I bumped into an old school friend in Horlock Court; she was in the year below me at my old university. We got chatting, and she agreed to come round for a meal. The following night, I met her and her roommate, Andrea, at the Castle Irwell bar. Andrea ended up coming round for the meal instead, and that was that. We were united by our love of rugby league. I played for the University, and she was our only supporter.

We have two children. I worked for Nestlé for 29 years in France, Dubai and Switzerland. Andrea worked for Smith & Nephew in the UK and several small and medium enterprises in Dubai and Switzerland. We now run a holiday cottage in the Lincolnshire Wolds. Rugby league is still important to us. Andrea is the Chair of the Hull KR Supporters Council, and the cottage sponsors the Captain of Hull KR. This September, we will celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary.
