Closing time at the Pav pushed Sarah and Terry out into the night and into each other’s arms. Meeting outside for the first time, they got chatting and found themselves bonding over post boxes.

They are now married with four children and often reminisce about their university days. Now their daughter is starting her own university journey in September. Sarah shared more about their story.

Tell us about how you met.

Terry and I met in year two of university in Castle Irwell after a night at the Pav, listening to Tommy Tracks and his wheels of steel. When it was kicking out time at the Pav, everyone used to gather outside, and that is where we met. We bonded over a conversation about post boxes because we were standing next to one. We then carried on the party in one of the houses!

Tell us about your life together after university.

After university, we went on to marry and now have four kids, one of whom is just starting her university journey. When we visited potential universities, I spoke to my daughter about how important accommodation is and how Castle Irwell was an amazing experience, as you get to meet so many people and make lots of memories. Having the Students’ Union on site, it totally made my university experience. We have now been married for 20 years, and I still remember the university days like they were yesterday.

What is your advice for those looking for romance on campus?

Follow your heart.
