It’s that wonderful time of year again – the time that gets us excited to start (and is kind of important to make sure you can access our systems and officially be a Salford student). Yep, it’s registration time!
All students, whether you’re new or returning, are required to register for each year of study. Registration is the official process of becoming a student (or retaining your student status) each year at the University of Salford.
We will send you a registration email as soon as you’re eligible to register. You need to make sure you register before the start of term so you can start or continue your course, take part in Welcome events and receive any funding you have applied for on time (as well as fulfil visa requirements if you’re an international student).
If you’re a new student, registering will give you access to our IT systems at Salford, including our Virtual Learning Environment (Blackboard), WiFi access on campus, our intranet for students (the Student Hub), your student email account and many more of our Office365 tools. It may take a few days for this to kick in once you’ve completed the registration process.
Use our guide below to find out the basics of registration and how to troubleshoot if you’re not able to register. Select your level of study to begin:
- New undergraduate student
- New postgraduate taught or research student
- Returning student at any level
Once you’ve read the information that’s right for you, that’s it – your registration information is all done. If you’ve got any questions while you’re completing registration or you’re still unsure, contact the askUS team for further support. We can’t wait for a new year with you at Salford.

Q: When do I register?
A: You will receive an email from us when you’re eligible to register. You can register once you have received an unconditional offer that’s confirmed on UCAS Track. If you’ve just applied or gone through Clearing you will need to wait for an unconditional offer.
Q: How do I register?
A: Check the email account you used to apply to the University for an email from registration@salford.ac.uk and complete the required actions. We recommend checking your junk folder too, as sometimes our emails can end up in there!
Got the email but want a quick link? Register on the online registration portal. We’ve got some guides on the Welcome webpage that can help you too and a step-by-step video.
Q: I have a confirmed place, but I haven’t received a registration email.
A: Unconditional offers can take three to four working days to process, so don’t worry if you haven’t received an email straight away. Just keep an eye on your inbox. We recommended you also check your junk folder to see if the email has accidentally ended up in there.
If it’s been over five working days since you received your unconditional offer and you haven’t received an email, please complete this form instead. Please don’t fill out this form unless you’ve waited five working days – we know you’re eager to join us (and we can’t wait for you to start!) but filling in this form can increase our Registration team’s workload unnecessarily (and we’re pretty keen to help them out).

A: If it’s been over five working days since you received your unconditional offer and you haven’t received an email and have checked your junk folder, please complete this form instead. Please don’t fill out this form unless you’ve waited five full working days (Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays) – we know you’re eager to join us (and we can’t wait for you to start!) but filling in this form can increase our Registration team’s workload unnecessarily (and we’re pretty keen to help them out).
Returning student at any level
We’ve added a few questions below, but you can find all our official information on registration on the askUS website.
Q: When do I register?
A: Registration for September 2024 returners opens on Monday 19 August. You should register before the start of Trimester 1 (16 September). You can register as long as you have received your results letter.
Q: How do I register?
A: Check your student email account (including your junk folder) for an email from registration@salford.ac.uk and complete the required actions. Need a refresher on the process? Take a look on the askUS website.
Just want a quick link to registration? Register on our website.
Q: I haven’t received my results letter, what do I do?
A: Results letters are sent to you once your work from the previous trimester has been assessed by your school’s exam board. The dates the exam boards mark work can vary for each course, so don’t worry if you haven’t received your results letter just yet.
If you needed to complete a resit or reassessment, you will receive your results letter later than others on your course.
Q: I have received my results letter, but I haven’t received an email.
A: First check your junk folder. If it’s not in there, contact your School Office to ensure your record is ready for Registration.
You can call your School Office on 0161 295 5338 or email them on the below email addresses:
- Salford Business School: SBS-Hub@salford.ac.uk
- Arts, Media & Creative Technology: am-admin@salford.ac.uk
- Health & Society: HealthSociety-School-Reception@salford.ac.uk
- Science, Engineering & Environment: SEESchoolEnquiries@salford.ac.uk
- Salford Languages: SalfordLanguages@salford.ac.uk
If you know for certain that your record is ready but you haven’t received the registration email please complete this form instead. Please don’t fill out this form if you haven’t contacted your school yet. Our Registration team has to manually go through and check all the submissions and it hugely increases their workload if you’re not yet eligible for registration! Your quickest course of action is through your school (and it helps our Registration team avoid headaches too!).
