Salford Laboratory of Architecture (S-LAB) brings together design, research, industry engagement and emerging technologies to prepare students for the future of architectural practice. Rooted in Salford’s technical heritage and shaped by contemporary challenges, the programme explores how architecture can respond to decarbonisation, social responsibility, equity, diversity and the changing needs of society. Through live projects, multidisciplinary collaboration, digital tools, fabrication, prototyping and field-based learning, students develop transferable skills while testing new ideas about place, culture, materiality and performance. The 2026 Degree Show celebrates an ambitious and diverse student body working across studios, sites, communities and digital environments. Their work reflects a culture of experimentation, critical thinking and professional engagement, demonstrating how future architects can contribute creatively and ethically to a rapidly changing world.
