Salford Business School student Johnny Seddon has turned his experience on the Level 5 Young Enterprise module into a launchpad for professional success, earning regional recognition, employment with one of his mentors, and ongoing collaboration with the next generation of Salford entrepreneurs.
Now in his final year studying Business Management, Johnny was named the North West Young Enterprise Student of the Year for his leadership, creativity, and entrepreneurial mindset. His performance impressed business mentor Ruth Endacott, who later recruited him to join her company Neural River as an AI (artificial intelligence) Consultant and Customer Manager, helping businesses understand how AI can make their operations more efficient and deliver real value.
Johnny has also taken on a second role at Life’s Echo as Sales and Partnerships Manager, developing brand collaborations and creative outreach campaigns. Alongside his studies, he continues to support the Level 5 Young Enterprise cohort, offering advice and helping develop promotional materials for the current student teams.
He was recently acknowledged by Cube Thinking, one of the University’s industry partners, for his contribution to the Level 6 Live Project module.
Reflecting on his journey, Johnny said: “Young Enterprise gave me the confidence to act on my ideas and strengthened my entrepreneurial drive. It’s had a lasting impact on how I approach challenges and opportunities.”
Ruth Endacott, who mentored Johnny through the Young Enterprise programme and Managing Director of Life’s Echo, added: “From the very start, Johnny demonstrated a rare combination of vision, determination, and natural leadership. He inspired and motivated his peers, guiding the team through challenges with a calm yet tenacious approach.
“Impressed by his talent and drive, I later recruited him to join Neural River, where he continues to shine as part of the creative and strategic force behind various projects. Balancing these responsibilities alongside his final year at University speaks to his resilience and ability to manage multiple priorities without compromising quality or innovation.
“Programmes like these don’t just teach business skills – they nurture future leaders, and it is truly inspiring to witness such growth firsthand.”
Mildred Brown-Houston, Programme Leader for Business Management, said: “Johnny’s journey is an outstanding example of how dedication, creativity, and resilience can shape a student’s future. His consistent academic excellence, coupled with his remarkable achievements beyond the classroom, demonstrate the true value of applied learning.
“We are incredibly proud of his achievements and have no doubt he will continue to make a lasting contribution in the field of business and management.”
