Sustainable Communities

At the University of Salford, we are committed to building sustainable communities through engagement, partnerships and outreach. Our initiatives in Sustainable Communities are focused on creating a collaborative environment where sustainability becomes a shared responsibility and a source of inspiration for our community and beyond, through:

  • Communication and Engagement Strategy: Our Communication and Engagement Strategy empowers the whole University community to take part in sustainability initiatives through regular updates, events, and workshops. By raising awareness and promoting sustainability practices, we create a culture where students, staff, and partners feel inspired to take action.
  • Sustainability Partnerships: Collaboration is key to achieving sustainability at scale. We actively work with local authorities, businesses, NGOs, and educational institutions to support sustainable development in Greater Manchester and beyond. These partnerships help amplify our impact, enabling shared projects and initiatives that address social, economic, and environmental challenges on a regional level and further.
  • Carbon Literacy Programme: Our Carbon Literacy Programme offers students and staff training on the science and impacts of carbon emissions, along with practical strategies to reduce their personal and professional carbon footprints. You can sign up to our next training sessions here.
