Hey, I’m Max, a student here at the University of Salford, in my second year studying Digital Video Production & Marketing. I have a huge passion for creating content, so I am thrilled to begin my role as a Student Social Media Content Creator.

I hope to be able to share some of the tips, tricks, and lessons I have learnt during my time here to help you make the most out of your student life.

How did I end up at Salford?

Just like every student, I spent hours upon hours scrolling through the UCAS website hunting for the perfect course for me, but it was actually at a family gathering where my cousin, who was studying here at the time, first brought the University of Salford to my attention. After a lot more research, I took the leap and attended the open day, where I was instantly convinced that this was the place for me (the free ice cream van definitely had nothing to do with it!)

Why Salford?

As someone looking to break into the creative industry, the university’s campus based in MediaCityUK, was definitely a huge selling point, providing students with access to industry-standard equipment and facilities, and possibilities to collaborate with the surrounding media and digital spaces.

Another important factor for me when choosing my university was the location. The University of Salford is a campus-based university, with on-site accommodation, Peel Park Quarter, where I lived in my first year of studies. Living on campus was extremely beneficial for making friends, attending events, and getting to grips with the day-to-day life of being a student. Also, Salford is just a short walk or bus ride away from Manchester City Centre, the perfect place to go for a night out with friends, or for a more wholesome coffee shop date.

I have had the best two years so far fully embracing Salford life, where I have learnt so much about myself, the industry I want to go into, and made memories and friendships that will stay with me forever.
