WCML Ev//4.0

WCML Ev//4.0 explores education as a powerful tool for resistance, protest, and social change. Building on the Working Class Movement Library’s collection of working-class movements and political histories, the project investigates the issues currently affecting working-class communities and how people believe these challenges could be addressed.

A key finding behind the project was that many people felt strongly about politics and actively supported different parties, yet often had limited knowledge of the policies they were voting for or defending. This became the starting point for Ev//4.0: an evolution of Jubilee House and the WCML into a space for political education, protest education, and critical discussion.

The proposal creates a non-judgemental and welcoming environment where people can learn, question authority, and develop critical thinking skills. It is designed to serve the local community by offering spaces for debate, reflection, education, and collective action.

At its core, Ev//4.0 responds to the growing intolerance, division, and hate seen across the country today. By creating spaces for learning and dialogue, the project supports greater understanding and tolerance within the community.

Rather than accepting political division as inevitable, the scheme argues that education can help people recognise when fear and hate are being used as tools of influence. Ev//4.0 positions tolerance, knowledge, and collective learning as the foundations for rebuilding stronger and more inclusive communities.
