JOY – Women’s Chronic Condition Management Centre
JOY is a women’s chronic condition management centre in the heart of Manchester, designed specifically to support those living with gynaecological and hormonal conditions. It brings specialist, long-term care for endometriosis, PCOS, PMDD, menopause-related disorders, and other chronic conditions into one dedicated city-centre hub, addressing a clear gap in the current healthcare landscape.
At the centre of the scheme is a biophilic spine that draws natural light and greenery deep into the listed Bradley House, transforming it into a calm sanctuary away from the intensity of the urban environment. This is not simply an aesthetic gesture; biophilic design can help reduce stress and support emotional regulation, making nature an active part of the therapeutic experience.
Through emotional mapping and research-led design, each space has been shaped around dignity, empowerment, and sensory comfort. The result is an environment that feels human rather than clinical. JOY reframes chronic condition care as a continuous and compassionate experience: a place where women feel seen, supported, and understood, both medically and emotionally.
