Salford Business School recognised with corporate volunteer award at CIPS UK and Europe Volunteer Awards

Salford Business School is celebrating success at the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) UK and Europe Volunteer Awards 2025, where the University of Salford received the Corporate Volunteer Award.

The award recognises exceptional support for CIPS activities and initiatives through volunteer efforts. It highlights the contribution of organisations that go above and beyond in promoting and developing procurement and supply chain management standards, fostering professional communities, and supporting CIPS’ mission to enhance the profession globally.

This achievement reflects the work of the supply chains, procurement and project management team at Salford Business School, led by Dr Steve Kelly, Senior Lecturer in Supply Chains, Procurement and Project Management, and Dr Yiannis Polychronakis, Programme Leader for the MSc Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Both Steve and Yiannis are members of the CIPS Manchester Branch Committee and have played an instrumental role in organising the CIPS annual symposium and a range of other Manchester Branch events.

Dr Steve Kelly said: “This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our team and the strength of our partnership with the CIPS Manchester Branch. We’re privileged to collaborate with such a supportive and professional community and proud to see the positive impact these events have on our students and the wider sector.”

Dr Yiannis Polychronakis added: “It’s fantastic to see the collective effort of our team acknowledged in this way. These events not only strengthen our links with industry but also provide invaluable opportunities for our students to engage, learn, and develop as future procurement and supply chain leaders.”

Liz Larner, Deputy Dean of Salford Business School, said: “We are incredibly proud of Steve, Yiannis, and the wider team for this achievement. Their commitment to professional engagement and building strong industry relationships enriches our teaching and research, while also enhancing opportunities for our students and alumni.”

The awards evening also saw further recognition for the CIPS Manchester Branch, which won Branch of the Year, alongside commendations for Mike Hammond for Outstanding Contribution and the Female Leaders in Procurement Event at the University of Manchester.

Please join us in congratulating Steve, Yiannis and everyone involved in this outstanding achievement, which is another example of how Salford Business School continues to strengthen its partnerships and professional impact.
