Salford Law student, Aimee Holden, has exceeded expectations by qualifying as a finalist in the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) National Championship 2026.
Aimee, a second-year student here at Salford, excelled on her MOS certification last month, receiving one of the top performing scores across the country.
The MOS National Championship is an annual competition that tests competitors’ skills and abilities in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Every year, over 300 Salford Business School students undertake MOS certifications as part of their modular learning, equipping them with the essential skills required to thrive in the workforce. Since embedding the certification across all programmes, over 800 students have had the opportunity to develop their digital skills and literacy in this area.
Aimee said: “Upon learning that I had qualified for the championship, I felt both overjoyed and astonished, as I had not believed I had performed that well in the exam.
“This accomplishment will undoubtedly support my future employment, as it demonstrates strong digital proficiency and the ability to perform under pressure.”
The MOS certification has been a core part of the delivery and assessment of the Land Law module, that Aimee completed, for three years, demonstrating a sustained integration of digital literacy and employability skills.
Charlie Seager, Lecturer in Law and Module Leader for Land Law, as well as School Lead for Student Experience and Engagement, added: “It’s rewarding to see our students flourish and challenge themselves during their studies.
“Aimee has not only excelled on the module content, but has also been awarded an externally accredited certification from Microsoft (along with over 50% of the module cohort).”
The MOS National Championship final took place on Friday 12 June 2026, with Aimee narrowly missing a place in the international finals in California.
