Cycling on Campus

Salford University is great for cycling, with secure bike sheds and showers to make your commute as easy as possible, and situated less than 1 mile from Manchester City Centre. For those new to the University check out this interactive map to find your nearest bike shed or shower, amongst other things.

Not many people know but you can cycle between Salford University and MediaCity in 10 minutes! Much faster than travelling by bus or car and you can burn over 200 calories doing a roundtrip (guilt-free cake, anyone?).

Why not give it a try?

1. Jump onto the main road opposite Maxwell Building and cycling toward Peel Building. You will pass Salford Crescent train station.
2. At the first set of traffic lights continue straight toward McDonald’s
3. At the junction near McDonald’s, turn left onto Cross Lane
4. Continue straight on Cross Lane in the cycle lane. Head toward the church spire at the end of the road
5. Go through the subway
6. Continue straight under the next subway, still heading toward the church tower
7. Continue straight under the next subway, still heading toward the church tower
8. Continue cycling on the pavement, following it as it veers right downhill, until you come to a large roundabout. Take the first exit
9. Follow this road until you see the glistening waters of Salford Quays and MediaCityUK!
