We recently caught up with Civil Engineering graduates Mia, Class of 2022, and Jagger, Class of 2019, who found employment at MGF after being financially and professionally supported by the company throughout their Salford journey.

Lee, a first year Mental Health Nurse, secured a scholarship from the Gittins Family Charitable Trust in 2022.

In the last academic year we joined forces with The Gittins Family Charitable Trust to address the gender imbalance in nurses, and to help to create a diverse student community. The Gittins Family Charitable Trust was established by Brian Gittins (prior to his death in 2016) together with his older sister Sheila Gittins. Its purpose is to encourage students into engineering, manufacturing and healthcare roles.

Ben, a 2022 BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering graduate, secured the TWf Scholarship during his second year, in recognition of his academic promise and interest in temporary works.

The TWf Scholarship is funded by the Temporary Works forum (TWf), an organisation which works with companies within the temporary works industry to encourage best practice and open discussion in the sector.

TWf scholars not only receive a financial award during their second and third year of study but are supported to undertake a research project in temporary works and develop links with industry, leading to brilliant employment opportunities.

Joe, a BA (Hons) Comedy Writing and Performance graduate, secured the Performance Graduate Scholarship in the summer of 2021, in recognition of the outstanding potential they displayed as a student at the University of Salford.

The Performance Graduate Scholarship is kindly funded by the University’s donor community, and was created to support our recent graduates during their first year after graduation as they strive to establish themselves in the creative industry.

Ben, BA (Hons) Media and Performance graduate, was awarded the AR Performance Graduate Scholarship in the summer of 2021, in recognition of the exceptional promise they demonstrated as a student at the University of Salford.

The AR Performance Graduate Scholarship is kindly funded by an anonymous donor to support three creative, recent Salford graduates as they transition into employment.

Charlotte, BA (Hons) Media and Performance graduate, was awarded the Performance Graduate Scholarship in the summer of 2021, in recognition of the exceptional promise they demonstrated as a student at the University of Salford.

The Performance Graduate Scholarship was designed to support our recent graduates during their transition into employment, through a non-repayable award which is generously funded by the donor community of the University.

Jade, a BSc (Hons) Human Biology and Infectious Diseases student, was awarded the MLG Women in STEM Scholarship in November 2021, in recognition of her hard work and determination. 

The Women in STEM Scholarship is generously funded by the donor community of the University of Salford who are striving to help improve the number of women studying across STEM subjects, and will provide invaluable, non-repayable support for the duration of an undergraduate degree. 

The Gerry Mason scholarship was founded in 2015 by the eponymous founder of Salford engineering firm ‘Morson International’. Shortly after this pledge of support, Gerry unfortunately passed away, however his family have been continuing his legacy to fund engineering scholarships at Salford University in his memory.

One of these beneficiaries is Petroleum and Mechanical engineering student, Shelsia Abreu Gama Dos Santos.

We spoke to former Gerry Mason scholar James Kelly, who graduated with a BEng in Petroleum Engineering in 2018. The Gerry Mason Scholarship is kindly supported by the Mason family in memory of Morson founder, Gerry Mason.

James has since gone on to work at Morson Projects and we found out find out how attending Salford University and receiving a donor funded scholarship helped him on his journey to a career as a full time Systems Engineer.
